Bonsai Tree Artist

My name is Jason, founder and creative force behind Beyond Bonsai Studios. I am a bonsai artist, designer, and web/app developer with a passion that spans both nature and technology. While those worlds may seem distant, I’ve spent over 25 years discovering how beautifully they can complement each other.

My love for bonsai began in childhood. Frequent school trips to Japanese gardens, the Murakami Museum, and the iconic bonsai displays at Epcot sparked a sense of wonder that stayed with me. But the true beginning came at home. After completing a 4th-grade science fair project using Japanese black pines, my mother taught me how to wire, shape, and style the leftover trees. Those early creations became cherished pieces in our home — and the roots of a lifelong passion.

Even as I explored drawing, painting, DJing, and piano, bonsai remained the one art form where creativity, intuition, and patience all aligned naturally. It’s an art that still inspires me every day and continues to shape who I am as both an artist and a developer.

Contrary to the idea that technology and nature are opposites, I see harmony between them. Good engineering — like good bonsai — is about clarity, intention, balance, and removing what isn’t needed. When design is done right, it becomes simple, beautiful, and meaningful.

At Beyond Bonsai Studios, I bring these worlds together. I strive to create bonsai artwork that evokes peace and emotion, while building web and mobile applications that are elegant, functional, and inspired by the same principles found in nature.

Together, we can bridge the gap between the digital and the natural world — crafting experiences, apps, and artwork that are not only functional, but truly beautiful.
